Mezzo-soprano and voice professor Dr. Natela Nicoli offers a 2-week professional course to qualified, young opera and concert singers, giving them a chance to better their performance capabilities and provide an outlet to further their development as professional singers.
NATELA NICOLI
Natela Nicoli is an artist of internatinal standards, having a repertoire of over 60 roles. She was born in Georgia into a reputed family of singers, her mother, Lamara Tchkonia was one of the greatest sopranos in the former USSR and friend and composer Khatchurian exposed her to classical music at an early age. She is a very accomplished artist, having won the prestigious Opera Award in Germany for her excellent interpretation of Bizet’s Carmen in 1994, as well as receiving outstanding critical acclaim from leading opera houses and festivals such as the Salzburger Festspiele, Deutscher Oper Berlin, Semperoper/Dresden, Wiener Volksoper, Theater an der Wien, Opernhaus Graz, Wiener Musikverein, Wiener Konzerthaus, Philharmonie im Gasteig, Teatro Comunale di Firenze and last but not least, La Scala.
Natela Nicoli has worked closely with some of the world’s most reknowned conductors and directors such as Fabio Luisi, Denis Russel Davis, Ivor Bolton, Christoph von Dohnanyi, Vladimir Ashkenazy, Philippe Jordan, Dimitrij Kitajenko, Jury Bashmet, Sylvain Cambreling, Martin Haselböck, Michail Jurowski, Milan Horvat, Ernst Märzendorfer, Emil Tabakov, Achim Freyer, and Luc Bondy.She is also at home on the concert stage, having performed countless concerts from German, Spanish, and Russian repertoire. She has been teaching at the Graz Conservatory for a number of years, as well as holding courses on vocal technique improvement, seminars, and Master Classes. One of her private students to be recently engaged at the SemperOper Dresden is Olesya Golovneva in the leading role in Verdi’s La Traviata.
PROGRAMCOURSE:
Master Class for classical voice:
Goals: Perfecting vocal technique, Belcanto, and performance preparationIntroduction on 21.08.2008
Daily Schedule:
- Individual lesson, 1 hour per day
- Group lesson, 1 hour per day
- Concert preparation
Each participant will receive a one-hour private lesson and a one-hour group lesson per day. The group lessons will not only focus on musical style and interpretation, languages and stage technique, but also guidance in related issues and career development.
There will be a final matinee concert (not open to the public) to be held the last day of the course, 31.8.2008 attended by chosen personalities of the opera and concert world as well as established agents.
Upon termination of the Master Class, each participant will receive a certificate. Dr. Natela Nicoli offers further private lessons if desired.

EXTRA:
Participants have the ability to stay with families in Graz in order to increase their German language acquisition. In addition, attending German and/or Italian language classes at the conservatory possibile, cost is of course separate to that of the course.
Commencement:
